Stefan´s home Fagerhögen, Glyckshult, is situated in the landscape of Dalsland, in the western part of Sweden. Dalsland is the most lake rich landscape of all in Sweden, with a relatively small population. Fagerhögen is nearby a channel system, Dalslands Kanal.
Fagerhögen, outside of the village Håverud, in Buterud´s nature reserve, is in between Karlstad (120 km) and Göteborg (Gothenborg) (140 km). There has been a house here since at least the middle of the 19:th century.

As a visitor, there is nice and decent priced lodging in the vicinity, some few kilometer away. The different options are presented due to proximity to Fagerhögen. There is a Konsum food store some few km away, as well as larger population areas 15 km North and South, like Dals Långed and Mellerud.
Håverud 1 km
In the nearby village Håverud (1 km South), there is a Youth Hostel, a camping, as well as more fasionable hotels. There is a cultural centre, a small museum, as well as a large craft centre and an art museum nearby. During the Summer season, you have several restaurants.
Chanel boat trips can be made from here and you can take a steam boat to the nearby craft centre. Håverud receives around 500 000 visitors annually, much due to the famous aqueduct. It is one of the 30 most visited sights in Sweden. Web site in Swedish informing about Håverud.

Several small cabins are built neighbouring the famous aqueduct during 2010, with a great view over the lake. More info soon on this.

old and beautiful church. Run by a Dutch
couple. Offers hotel rooms as well as a
house for 4 persons. Restaurant and cafe.

Örtesänga 4 km
The name means "herbal meadow" and is some few km South from Fagerhögen. There is a Konsum food store some few km away, in the village of Åsens Bruk, that despite its size has a fair sortiment of ecological food.
Here you can rent an equipped house for 4
persons,
at a very reasonable rate. Owned by an elderly couple.

Högsbyn 8 km
Högsbyn is some 8 km North of Fagerhögen, famous for its ancient rock carvings by the lake Råvarpen.
Högsbyns Ekolantbruk
An ecological farm offering rustic houses by the lake Råvarpen, very close to the rock carvings at Högsbyn.
Prices per house range from 30-50 Euro/day. Some 8 km North of Fagerhögen, along a beautiful, asphalted forest road.

Kroppefjäll 10+ km
Is the most Southern fjeld in Sweden, standing some 240 meters above the sea. It is also a large nature reserve and even home of wolves. In nearby Dals Rostock you will find a well known herbal garden.
